- Modeling:
- Autodesk Maya: The industry-standard 3D-modeling software. Its new renderer, Arnold, is not great for real-time rendering.
- Autodesk 3DS Max: Similar to Maya, but reportedly less buggy and good for environment modeling. Preferred by some studios/company workplaces.
- Autodesk Mudbox: 3D sculpting program that is Autodesk's equivalent to Z-brush.
- Z-brush: The industry-standard 3D sculpting software, good for high-poly character modeling.
- Substance Painter
- Substance Designer
- Marmoset Toolbag: Rendering and texture-baking software.
